Piedra Earns Win in Road Defeat at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C... – Junior Lucianna Piedra picked up her fourth singles win of the season as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat on the road on Saturday afternoon at Davidson at the Davidson Tennis Courts.

"It was a tough one today. The team battled hard and played a really good doubles point. We've got a quick turnaround to get some rest and get healthy before Monday's home match against Coastal Carolina." 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats got out to a quick start with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles before Piedra along with Claudia Sanchez tallied the 6-4 victory at the No.2 spot to set up the decisive match at No. 1.
- Davidson earned a 7-6 tiebreak win at the No. 1 position to jump out to the early 1-0 lead.
- The hosts earned a straight-set win at the No. 3 singles spot to push the lead to 2-0.
- Piedra got the Blue Hose on the board with a straight-set victory at the top spot to cut the Wildcats lead to 2-1.
- Davidson picked up a pair of wins in straight sets at the No. 2 and 5 positions that allowed the Wildcats to grab Saturday's win.
- Davidson pushed the margin to 6-1 with a win at No. 4 and 6 singles to propel the home team past PC.
 
NOTABLES
- Piedra tied the team lead on Saturday with her fourth singles win of the season. She's tied with freshman McKenzie Davis for the mark.
- Sanchez and Piedra also picked up their fourth doubles win in the dual including a 3-0 mark at the No. 2 position in the Blue Hose doubles lineup.
