Blue Hose Falter in Home Match with Campbell

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on Saturday to Campbell at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Big South action.

"It was a tough one today. Campbell is very solid and it just shows how much parody is in our league. We are looking forward to a few days off to get rest and healthy then back at it against CSU."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Campbell took the opening match on Saturday by the score of 6-4 at the top doubles spot before Valentina De Sousa and Varvara Nikolaeva earned a 6-2 win at the No. 3 pair to set up the decisive point.
- The guests earned a 6-3 win to push the first point across the board for Campbell on Saturday morning.
- The Fighting Camels kept the momentum from doubles on Saturday grabbing a straight-set win at No. 3, 4 and 6 to clinch the win over the Blue Hose and earn their first league win of the season.
- Claudia Sanchez and Lucianna Piedra got PC on the board with a pair of straight-set wins before Campbell tallied a win at No. 4 singles en route to a 5-2 win on Saturday afternoon in Clinton.
 
NOTABLES
- Piedra and Sanchez both improved to 2-0 in singles play during conference action with their wins.
- With the win, Piedra tied Beth Lacey for fifth in the Blue Hose DI record book for career Big South singles wins with 11.
 
UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose have an 11-day break before returning to the courts on Wednesday, March 22 for a 2 p.m. first serve at Charleston Southern.
