Blue Hose Drop Road League Match at CSU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a delayed Big South match against Charleston Southern on Thursday by the score of 7-0 at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center in Charleston. The match originally scheduled to be completed on Wednesday was pushed to Thursday after doubles due to rain in the Charleston area.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bucs got the early edge on Wednesday with a 6-0 win at the No. 1 doubles spot before Claudia Sanchez and Lucianna Piedra earned a 6-3 victory to force the decisive match in doubles.
- CSU earned a tight 7-5 victory at No. 3 doubles to get the early edge. This would be the end of play for the two teams on Wednesday as rain washed away the remainder of the match till Thursday afternoon.
- The hosts got the early edge on Thursday behind a straight-set victory at No.3 singles before a straight-set win at No. 6 to push the lead to 3-0.
- Charleston Southern clinched the match on Thursday with a victory at the top spot of the lineup to give the Bucs the Big South win.
- After CSU increased it to a 5-0 advantage, freshman McKenzie Davis was able to force a third set along with sophomore Sanchez forcing a pair of tiebreaks before the Bucs clinched a 7-0 win.
 
NOTABLES
- Piedra and Sanchez earned their sixth doubles win of the season which is a team-high for the Blue Hose.
  
UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose are back on the courts in Charlotte on Friday for a 2 p.m. first serve against the #36 ranked 49ers. The weekend wraps up at Charlotte on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Long Island.
