Johnson Paces Blue Hose at Trojan Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College cross country teams posted four personal records on Saturday to close out the Trojan Opener at Anderson University. William Johnson led the Blue Hose with a fourth place showing in the 800 and 1500 meters.

Notables

William Johnson opened the day for PC on Saturday with a personal record in the 1500 meters finishing with a 4:05.12 to finish fourth in the race.
Spencer Wieters finished his 1500 meters with a 4:33.93, while freshman Kevin Lagat tallied a 4:46.32 in the same race as James Marler rounded out the quartet with a 5:08.68 at Anderson.
Isabel Whitman led the way for the Blue Hose in the 1500 meters with a 5:15.88 finishing just two seconds off of a school record. Keyli Gomez finished with a 5:32.02 and Julie Covil rounded out the trio at 6:11.22.
Samuel Wall the lone Blue Hose to compete in the 400 meters finished with a personal record on Saturday at 58.23.
Whitman also paced the Blue Hose on Saturday with a 2:35.55 in the 800 meters finishing 10th overall in the event. The finishing time also led to a PR for Whitman.
Caroline Rairigh finished in 14th place in the 800 with a 2:40.60 while Lili Jaraczewski rounded out the group at 2:53.47 for PC.
Johnson also finished in fourth in the 800 meters with a 1:58.05 to lead PC. Lagat tallied a 2:14.16 as Wall finished in 2:18.43 for a PR.
The Blue Hose closed out the event on Saturday in the 5000 meter as Marler tallied a 20:36.51. Gomez finished her 5000 meter at 20:25.63 and Covil finished the event at 22:55.98.
