Blue Hose Set for Busy Stretch of Three Matches in Four Days

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team gets back on the court on Wednesday for a key Big South matchup against Charleston Southern from Charleston. The Blue Hose continue on Friday with a road trip to battle #36 Charlotte before squaring off on Saturday with Long Island.

COACH ROBERTS ON UPCOMING MATCHES
"It's a big week ahead for us. We begin the week with a tough conference match on Wednesday against CSU but I know the team is looking forward to the challenge. The weekend is closed out with a couple tough non-conference matches this weekend at Charlotte."

SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
- Charleston Southern enters Wednesday's match with a 10-5 record as the Bucs have won their last eight matches. CSU is also 9-3 on its home courts.
- The Bucs are led by Kassandra Di Staulo who's a perfect 9-0 on the season in singles while a trio of players including Noa Boyd, Luiza Fullana and Amila Jusufbegovic each have eight wins.
- In doubles action, Zoe Cauthen along with Tiffany Pyritz are the top duo for the Bucs with seven wins this season.
- CSU's lone conference win came against Gardner-Webb three weeks ago by the score of 5-2 in Charleston.
- The Bucs hold a commanding 14-2 edge in the head-to-head series with the Blue Hose including 6-1 wins in each of the last two meetings. PC's last win over CSU came during the 2018-19 series in Charleston by the score of 5-2.

SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
- Charlotte begins the weekend with a 14-5 record as the 49ers battle Long Island on Friday morning before playing host to the Blue Hose. Charlotte comes into the week ranked 36th in the latest ITA team ranks.
- Lucie Petruzelova is the top player for Charlotte in the dual season with a 12-1 record as Margaux Maquet along with Lucia Quiterio are both at 11 wins.
- Quiterio and Maquet are the 49ers top doubles pair at 11-5 on the season.
- Charlotte holds a 6-0 record all-time against Presbyterian with Friday's match being the first head-to-head battle since February of 2021 when the 49ers defeated the Blue Hose 5-2.
- Friday's match is the first against a ranked opponent for PC since February 18, 2021 when #24 Furman defeated PC 7-0.

SCOUTING LONG ISLAND
- Long Island sits at 6-7 on the year as the Sharks battle Charlotte on Friday morning before squaring off with PC on Saturday from the Queen City.
- Leo Boisseau leads LIU in singles with a 7-4 dual record while four other players for the Sharks sit with five wins apiece.
- In doubles, the Sharks are led by Boisseau and Elinor Storkaas who are 4-3 on the season.
- PC and LIU have never met ahead of Saturday's matchup in Charlotte.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on Saturday to Campbell at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Big South action.

NEWCOMERS
- Presbyterian returns four players from last season's team while adding a trio of new faces to the squad for the 2022-23 season.
- Fourth-year head coach Joel Roberts welcomes back junior Lucianna Piedra (Mexico City, Mexico), sophomore Madison Dennett (Palm City, Fla.), Valentina De Sousa (Caracas, Venezuela), and Claudia Sanchez (Betera, Valencia, Spain).
- Roberts also welcomes Varvara Nikolaeva (Suffolk, Va.) along with McKenzie Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Claire Giddings (Milton, Ga.) as the three freshmen to the roster for the 22-23 season.

SPRING SLATE
- Head Coach Joel Roberts 2023 spring slate features 20 matches, including 14 in the non-conference, beginning with the weekend's matches at Lander and Clemson.
- 12 of the 14 non-conference matches occur against teams who tallied 10+ wins during the 2022 season, highlighted by three with 19 wins last year. The three teams to total 19 victories were the College of Charleston, Charlotte, and Long Island.
- In conference play, PC hosts Campbell, UNC Asheville, and Radford, with trips to Gardner-Webb, Longwood, and Charleston Southern on tap this spring.
