CLINTON, S.C. – Behind 6.2 shutout innings from three Blue Hose relievers, the Presbyterian College baseball team defeated Charleston Southern 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex. Freshman Kyle Mueller along with seniors Colbey Klepper and Tanner Smith tossed the final 6.2 innings with only allowing three hits and no runs to help PC secure the series victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- PC opened the scoring in the first inning as Reeves roped a single to right field to give the Blue Hose an early 1-0 lead.
- CSU answered in the second with an RBI double to even the score at one.
- Reeves answered in the third with a sacrifice fly to center that pushed PC to a 2-1 lead.
- Behind 6.2 scoreless frames from Mueller, Klepper, and Smith that was enough offense to give PC a 2-1 series-clinching win on Saturday afternoon.
NOTABLES
- Jack Gorman picked up his seventh multi-hit game which included his first triple of the 2023 season to lead the PC offense.
- In the opening frame, Trey Fenderson pushed his reached base streak to a team-high 16 in a row with a leadoff single. Fenderson also carries a six-game hit streak into the Sunday series finale.
- With his third double of the season, Brody Fahr pushed his hit streak to five straight games.
- Mueller tallied his career-best relief performance tossing three scoreless frames with three strikeouts to tally his team-high third win of the season.
- Klepper pitched a season-high 2.2 scoreless frames to help preserve the one-run victory.
- Smith needed 12 pitches to record his team-high fifth save of the 2023 season. Smith has held opponents without a run over his last 8.2 innings of work that spans six appearances for the Blue Hose senior. In those six outings, he's limited opponents to three hits with 12 strikeouts since Smith last allowed a runner to cross home plate.
- The Blue Hose improved to 5-2 on Saturday in one-run games. PC is also 7-4 in games where the Blue Hose score first this season.
