Fast Start & Strong Pitching Push Blue Hose Past Alabama State

CLINTON, S.C. – Behind a fast start and strong pitching throughout, the Presbyterian College Baseball team picked up a 6-2 non-conference win on Tuesday afternoon over Alabama State at the PC Baseball Complex. Dalton Reeves and Ryan Ouzts each connected on homers in the win as the Blue Hose four pitchers finished with 13 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- PC got the bats going quickly on Tuesday with a two-run double from Joel Dragoo before an RBI single from Reeves pushed the Blue Hose to a 3-0 lead after one inning.
- Alabama State got on the board in the fourth with an RBI double to cut it to a 3-1 score in favor of Presbyterian.
- Reeves added a two-run homer in the fifth that push the Blue Hose out in front by the score of 5-1.
- Ouzts added a solo homer in the eighth that gave the hosts a 6-1 lead.
- The Hornets pushed across a run via an RBI double in the ninth before PC slammed the door shut to claim the 6-2 midweek victory. 
 
NOTABLES
- Reeves, Ouzts, and Brody Fahr each tallied a pair of hits in the contest to pace the Blue Hose on the offensive side. 
- Fahr now has recorded a team-high 16 multi-hit games after Tuesday's performance. He also has reached base safely in the last 17 games with hits in each of his last 10 contests. He's hitting .487 (19-of-39) with six RBIs in his 10-game hit streak.
- PC improved to 6-4 when hitting 2+ homers as Reeves and Ouzts went yard in the victory. The Blue Hose also improved to 10-2 when out-hitting their opponents. Presbyterian also totaled its 11th win on the season when scoring 6+ runs. 
- Reeves connected on his second homer in the last three games and also his team-high seventh with his fifth-inning home run. It's the Blue Hose catcher's third home run in non-conference play. 
- Sophomore Daniel Eagen made his season debut tossing a scoreless eighth with a pair of strikeouts. 
- The Blue Hose pitchers finished one off of a season-high for the staff with 13 strikeouts by the four pitchers led by DiGiacomo with five strikeouts. Tanner Smith and Mason McDaniel added three strikeouts apiece with Eagen totaling two.

UP NEXT
 - PC hits the road for the next seven games beginning on Friday with the opener of the Blue Hose three-game series against USC Upstate from Spartanburg. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN+.
