Spartans Slip by Blue Hose in 10 Innings

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate used a two-run homer in the 10th inning to push past the Presbyterian College baseball team on Saturday by the score of 9-7 at Cleveland S. Harley Park in Spartanburg. Jack Gorman and Joel Dragoo each homered as part of a four-run fifth in the defeat.

 HOW IT HAPPENED 
 - Dalton Reeves got the Blue Hose on the board first with a sacrifice fly in the opening inning to gain the early lead on Saturday afternoon. 
- The Spartans evened the game at one in the third with an RBI single.
- Ryan Ouzts added an RBI double down the left field line to push the guests back in front by the score of 2-1.
- In the fifth inning, Gorman connected on his third homer of the season to push the lead to 4-1 before  Dragoo connected on his seventh long ball of the year to make it a 6-1 lead for the guests.
- Jay Wetherington added an RBI single in the seventh to push it to 7-1 headed to the bottom of the seventh.
- USC Upstate responded in the home half of the seventh with a five-run frame to cut the PC lead to 7-6 headed to the eighth inning.
- The Spartans tallied an RBI single in the eighth which evened the score at seven after eight innings.
- The hosts capped off the rally with a two-run walk-off homer to left field to even the series at a game apiece with a 9-7 10-inning victory. 
  
 NOTABLES
 - Dragoo paced the offense on Saturday with a three-hit day for his 10th multi-hit game of the season. It's Dragoo's second three-hit game of the season.
- Fahr tallied two hits to increase his hit streak to 12 in a row and his reached base streak has moved out to 19 consecutive contests.
- Wetherington added a pair of hits for the PC offense on Saturday.
- With the 12 hits on Saturday, PC now has 10+ hits in seven of its last nine games including the previous five games.
- Dragoo connected on his seventh homer of the season in the fourth inning which is the left fielder's third in conference play this season. 
- Gorman's fourth-inning homer was his third of the season with it being the second in Big South contests.
- Reeves pushed his hit streak to nine straight games with his single in the contest on Saturday afternoon.
