Blue Hose Drop Marathon Series Finale to #14 Campbell

CLINTON, S.C. – Behind a three-run sixth inning coming out of a two-and-a-half-hour weather delay, #14 Campbell was able to secure the series win over the Presbyterian College baseball team on Friday night by the score of 9-6 at the PC Baseball Complex. Kyle Merkle, Noah Lebron, and Ryan Ouzts each homer in the defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Campbell opened the scoring in the first with a solo home run down the right field line to get the early lead on Friday evening. 
- The guests increased the lead in the third with a PC wild pitch allowing the Camels second run to scamper home.
- The Fighting Camels pushed across three runs in the fourth inning which allowed the advantage to push to 5-0.
- Merkle continued his torrid pace at the plate in the fourth with a solo homer before Ouzts went back-to-back to cut it to 5-2.
- Trey Fenderson added a sacrifice fly before a walk to Jack Gorman made it 5-4. The five-run frame was capped by an RBI single from Brody Fahr to tie the game at five after four innings.
- Coming out of the weather delay, Campbell pushed across three runs in the sixth to allow the advantage to swell to 8-5 after 5.5 innings.
- Lebron connected on his first homer of the season in the eighth to cut it to 8-6 before an RBI single in the ninth allowed the Camels to retake a 9-6 lead and grab the series win on Friday night. 
 
NOTABLES
- Fahr led the Blue Hose with three hits for his team-high 11th multi-hit game of the season. He sits at a .319 average with 15 hits in the Blue Hose 12 league games thus far.
- Fahr has also reached base safely in his last eight contests. 
- In the fourth, Merkle and Ouzts connected on PC's first back-to-back homers of the 2023 season. Both players are now tied for the team-high with four homers on the season.
- Lebron connected on his first homer of the season late on Friday night. 
- Friday marks the second time in league play that PC has hit three homers in a game.
- In the fifth inning, the game was halted for 2:34 due to rain in the Clinton area. 
- Sean Hollister tallied a career-high three innings of relief work on Friday night.
