Davidson Blanks PC in Sunday Matinee

DAVIDSON, N.C. – For the third consecutive time in what is becoming a yearly affair between the Presbyterian College women's soccer team and the Davidson Wildcats, a final tally of three goals was cemented in the Carolina border matchup. On Sunday afternoon in the Tar Heel State, the whole trio swayed to PC's opposition in a 3-0 shutout.

Across the penultimate non-conference display and final occasion where the Blue Hose will be away from home against a non-Big South foe, PC's injury-riddled offense wasn't able to keep pace with a three-goal tally from the home side over the last period.

Drawing the first strike with two-and-a-half minutes gone by in the second half, Davidson's relentless pursuit started a domino effect with two other scores in the 74th and 77th minutes.

Presbyterian will look to toss the defeat aside and return to Martin Stadium this Thursday, hosting Western Carolina on Senior Night in a first-time-ever matchup.

FINAL SCORE – Davidson, 3 – PC, 0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (1-5-1) – Davidson (3-4)
LOCATION: Alumni Soccer Stadium (Davidson, N.C.)

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Continuing a unique trend for the Wildcats, each of Davidson's seven contests on the calendar have resulted in one team coming up empty on the scoreboard. That pattern continued over the weekend as starting goalie Emily Smith stopped four would-be PC scores.

- On the other side of the coin, junior Kelly Hall was faced with a busy day of preventative stances, seeing 22 shots come her way. The Suwanee, Ga. native was able to deny nine of Davidson's 12 on-target looks.

- Two of Lina-Marie Müller's three attempts to get past Smith nearly succeeded, joining Lindsey Malyszek and Gwen Keiser as fellow Blue Hose who landed at least one shot-on-goal.

- SJ Pak was the culprit to the 48th-minute strike that put the Wildcats in the driver's seat, while Shea Bonacci and Savannah Pruitt added to the victor's three-score collection as the match entered its later stages.

UP NEXT

- The Blue Hose will aim to roll into Big South territory with a momentous win over Western Carolina in four days' time, battling the Catamounts at 7:00 PM this Thursday. WCU owns a record of 2-2-3 following a 1-1 tie versus East Carolina in Cullowhee.

- Mackenzie Azuero, Caitlin Murphy, Mia Prieto, Reyna Coston, and Kali Zmistowski will be recognized prior to first touch for their four-year contributions to the program, in the midst of their final campaign donning the blue and garnet.

- PC has never faced off with Western Carolina in their 16-year Division I history, headed back to Clinton for their first home clash in two weeks.
