CLINTON, S.C.  – The Presbyterian Blue Hose jumped out to a quick start by winning the first two sets but the Furman Paladins (8-2) rallied for a 3-2 win over the Blue Hose (1-9) in PC's home opening match at the Templeton Center on Thursday evening.

How It Happened vs. Furman
- In the first set, the Blue Hose scored the first six points behind kills by Kasey Battle and Hannah Rowe. PC pushed their lead to 10-3 after a kill by Julia Yurkovich. Furman cut the Blue Hose lead to 15-11 after a Presbyterian attack error but that would be as close as the Paladins would get as the Blue Hose closed out the first set, 25-15.
- In the second set, Presbyterian jumped out to a 5-2 lead after another kill by Yurkovich. The Blue Hose pushed their lead 16-6 behind kills by Battle and Rowe and a couple of service aces from Courtney Aulbaugh. A kill from Kasey Battle gave the Blue Hose a 25-15 set win. The Blue Hose recorded a .355 hitting percentage in the set.
- In the third set, after Furman took a 3-1 lead the Blue Hose behind a kill from Hailey Grocholski and a service ace from Rowe tied the score at three. Neither team was able to take a lead larger than one point as it was a very tight back-and-forth set until with the score tied at 24, the Paladins scored the final two points to take the set, 26-24.
- In the fourth set, Furman scored six of the first nine points. Then, PC behind two kills from Yurkovich cut the Paladins' lead to one point, 6-5. The Blue Hose were not able to get any closer and when Furman was clinging to a 12-11 lead, the Paladins scored nine of the next 11 points to take control of the set. Furman forced a fifth set with a 25-15 set win.
- In the fifth set, Furman scored eight of the first nine points taking control of a set that they would go on to win 15-7 to complete the rally.Â

- Battle collected a game-high 20 kills.
- Yurkovich added 14 kills to Presbyterian's efforts.
- Rowe had 12 kills and 13 digs.
- Anna Baranski dished out 44 assists. Sophia Del Valle recorded 24 digs in the match.
