CLINTON, S.C. – In a game that had three second-half goals, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (2-3-0) lost to the ETSU Bucs (3-3-1), 2-1, at Martin Stadium on Saturday night.
FROM COACH FINOTTI
"We felt that we had a really good week preparing for ETSU," Presbyterian coach
Nick Finotti said. "We respect them and we knew they have a good program. The first 17 minutes of the game, I felt that we were the better team. We had possession of the ball, we created scoring chances. The red card changed the complexion of the game completely. It is hard to absorb pressure for 73 minutes down a man against a quality team at this level. I told the guys that I couldn't be prouder of them and we certainly deserved more out of the game than a 2-1 loss."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the ninth minute, Presbyterian had a great scoring chance as Diego Hernandez's shot at the top of the box banged off the goalpost. The Blue Hose put ETSU under a lot of pressure over the first 15 minutes of the game.
- In the 17th minute, Presbyterian's Tomas White was issued a red card so the Blue Hose had to play a man down for the rest of the game.
- In the 46th minute, Presbyterian's Iragi Kalala was fouled in the box by an ETSU defender giving the Blue Hose a penalty kick. Presbyterian's Carson Griffith calmly buried the penalty kick into the back of the net giving the Blue Hose a 1-0.
- In the 80th minute, Chris McKenna headed in an Axel Boden corner kick tying the score at one.
- About a minute and a half later in the 81st minute, ETSU's Tarik Pannholzer's corner kick found McKenna on the left side of the box, McKenna headed the ball back across the box to Yves Tcheuyap who headed the ball into the back of the net giving ETSU a 2-1 lead which they would not relinquish.
