Blue Hose Suffer Road Setback at UT Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose volleyball team (0-6) lost to the UT Arlington Mavs (5-0), 3-0, on the road in their final game of the UTA Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened vs. UT Arlington
  • In the first set, UTA scored the first two points before a kill by Hannah Rowe cut UTA's lead in half but that would be close the Blue Hose would get to UT Arlington, who would win the first set, 25-11.
  • In the second set, Presbyterian behind two kills by Rowe and a kill from Kasey Battle jumped out to a 3-1 lead. The Mavs scored six of the next seven points taking the lead for good, 7-4. UT Arlington would take the second set, 25-12.
  • In the third set, UTA scored five of the first six points taking a 5-1 lead. The Blue Hose responded with a 10-6 scoring run tying the score at 11 after a UTA attack error. Rowe and Battle had kills during the Blue Hose scoring run. For the next four points, UTA would regain the lead and then the Blue Hose would tie the score again. With the score tied at 15, UT Arlington scored two straight points taking back the lead for good. The Blue Hose were able to cut it one point, 17-16, but they were not able to get any closer as UTA won the match with a 25-21 victory in the set.  
  
Notables
  • Kinsey Bailey was named to the UTA Classic All-Tournament team after tallying 18 assists and seven digs in today's match.
  • Rowe led the Blue Hose with 14 kills which marks the second time this season that she has recorded double-figure kills.
  • The Blue Hose sideout percentage improved from 37% in the second set to 48% in the third set.
