PC and Gardner-Webb Battled to a 1-1 Draw

CLINTON, S.C. – In a tightly contested Big South Conference game, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (4-4-1, Big South: 1-0-1) battled the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (2-5-2, Big South: 0-1-1) to a 1-1 draw in Martin Stadium on Saturday night.

FROM COACH FINOTTI
"Looking at the data, we knew the tenor of the game and it was chippy and broken a little bit because of the fouls," Presbyterian coach Nick Finotti said. "I thought we handled ourselves really well. One of those games when you play against a good team. You are not going to have all the momentum. You aren't going to have the ball all the time you have to be comfortable without the ball. Try to take some things away from them. I thought we had some really good moments. I felt that the game was pretty even."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 60th minute, Presbyterian's Carson Griffith was fouled about 10 yards from midfield on the Blue Hose's defensive side of the field. Goalkeeper Beatty Murray sent the awarded free kick to just at the top of the box to Diego Hernandez who headed the ball back to Damorney Hutchinson who headed the ball from 10 yards out into the back of the net giving the Blue Hose a 1-0 lead. Hutchinson's goal was his second of the season.

In the 76th minute, Gardner-Webb tied the score at one when Jaylen Orr scored off a Kaelen Debbage assist.

NOTABLES
The Blue Hose finished the game with an 8-7  advantage in shots. Hutchinson tallied five shots with one shot on goal. Hernandez, Lorenzo Nagy, and Tomas White added a shot apiece to the Blue Hose's offensive efforts.
Murray collected three saves in the game.
