Women’s Soccer Crosses Carolina Border in Sunday Trip to Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The final time on the road before the Presbyterian College women's soccer team begins Big South locality, PC's weekend excursion to Davidson will register as the second-to-last non-conference affair on the docket. First touch in the Carolina rivalry is slated for 2:00 PM this Sunday, September 10.

Fresh off their highest offensive output of the young year in what amounted to a tie versus Jacksonville, the Blue Hose will confront a 2023 first in 48 hours by staying away from home for consecutive contests.

Presbyterian has battled the Wildcats on three prior occasions, with a yearly date between the two clubs beginning to surface. Sunday's matchup will mark the third straight season that PC has faced Davidson, with each of the past two results yielding a 2-1 final.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- The Wildcats present an anomaly in Division I soccer, in that every one of their six matches to this point has concluded in a shutout. Under half of those bouts have swung in Davidson's favor, however, dropping their last pair to Charleston Southern and Campbell after a 2-2 start.

- Scoring four times while giving up six, PC's N.C. foe was forced to call off a planned duel with Winthrop on Thursday due to inclement weather, meaning a full seven days of rest will be fulfilled from both sides at the time of the match's dawn.

- The Fighting Camels provided the game-clincher just seven minutes into last Sunday's clash, blanking Davidson for the full 90. Head coach Riley Piechnick's group hasn't found the back of the net since August 27 in a 2-0 triumph against Wofford.

LAST TIME OUT

- At various points, it's been a similarly strong emphasis on the back line for the Blue Hose, although the aforementioned draw with Jacksonville threw that trend aside in what was a four-goal opening-half tally.

- Sophomore Lindsey Malyszek is beginning to blossom as a premiere threat on PC's offensive core, securing consecutive goals for the first time in her young career in last week's contest with Navy and again versus the Dolphins.

- Presbyterian notched both of their strikes in Florida within a nine-minute window, although a tie was enforced thanks to an unfortunate penalty kick situation at the 27:41 stamp.

- Malyszek is now the team leader in overall points (four), followed closely by classmate Lina-Marie Müller (three). Sloan Spees, Mia Prieto, and Emilia Lieber have all hit a deuce in the points column, the latter doing so with a couple assists during her freshman semester.

- The 2022 face-off with Davidson – emanating from Martin Stadium – saw the Blue Hose deal the first blow in the 47th minute, only for the Wildcats to answer with two in a row for the come-from-behind win. This followed the identical final from the '21 bout, in which Davidson assumed a 2-0 edge and held on from there.
