The Presbyterian Blue Hose men's tennis team begins their spring dual match season on the road at perennial NCAA Tournament participant the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro, Tennessee this Saturday, January 13 at 2 p.m. Saturday's match will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE
The Blue Hose were picked to finish second by the league's coaches in the Big South Preseason Poll.
Last season, Presbyterian shared the Big South regular-season title while capturing the program's third Big South Tournament title and earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Hose have reached the Big South Conference Tournament Championship match six times in the program's history while claiming three tournament titles. Presbyterian has reached the NCAA Tournament three times in school history.
The Blue Hose are under the guidance of head coach
John Collins, who is in his fourth season at PC. Presbyterian returns six letterwinners off last season's team led by senior
Javier Matos, a 2023 Second Team All-Big South Singles and Doubles selection, and sophomores
Denim Yadav, the 2023 Big South Freshman of the Year, and
David Mamalat, who earned Big South Freshman of the Week accolades three times last season. Rounding out the returners are juniors
Pedro Cardoso and
Loup Alleno and sophomore
Austin Skoog. Joining those returning letterwinners are talented newcomers freshmen
Marco Foglieni, from Italy, and
Evgenios Vasilakis, from Greece.
SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE
Last season, the Blue Raiders ended the year ranked No. 23 in the ITA Rankings. In this season's ITA singles rankings, Leo Raquin is ranked No. 25, Marcel Kamrowski is No. 47 and Ondrej Horak is No. 105. Raquin reached the finals of the consolation draw at the ITA Fall Nationals this past November.
Middle Tennessee has won four Conference USA Championships and made six trips to the NCAA Tournament under head coach Jimmy Borendame.
