Women’s Tennis Starts off the Spring Season with a Pair of Road Matches

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's tennis team opens their 2024 slate on Saturday as PC heads to Charlotte to battle Queens at 1 p.m. The Blue Hose close out the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. first serve against Charlotte on Sunday evening.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS
- Queens opens the 2024 season on Saturday when the Royals welcome PC to the Queens Sports Complex.
- Queens enters the season coming off a 5-18 2022 season.
- Sophomore Katsiaryn Tuliakova led the Royals last season with 10 singles wins.
- Tuliakova and Hannah Axelsson tallied six doubles wins for Queens to lead the team last season.
- Saturday's match marks the first time that these two teams will meet in Presbyterian's Division I history.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS
- Charlotte opens the 2024 season on Sunday when the 49ers welcome Queens to LifeTime Fitness.
- The 49ers enter the season after coming off of a 22-7 2022 season.
- Junior Lucie Petruzelova led the 49ers last season with 24 singles wins as graduate student Lucia Quiterio totaled 20 singles wins.
- Petruzelova and Margaux Maquet tallied 27 doubles wins for Charlotte last season.
- Sunday's match will be the eighth time that these two teams have met since Presbyterian joined Division I. Charlotte leads the all-time series 7-0.
 
A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian was picked third in the conference's preseason poll which is the highest in the program's history. Last season the Blue Hose won 29.8 percent of their singles matches and 35.7 percent of their doubles matches. Last season, Lucianna Piedra and Claudia Sanchez led the team with eight singles wins, while winning nine doubles matches together. Both Piedra and Sanchez will be competing in the upcoming spring season.

SPRING SLATE
Head coach Joel Roberts 2024 spring slate features 21 matches including 16 outside of the conference beginning with this weekend's matches in Charlotte. PC will play 11 matches at the Templeton tennis courts here at Presbyterian College this spring. In conference play, PC hosts Longwood, Gardner-Webb, and Charleston Southern.
