LANCASTER, Pa. – Shaking off some rust from a break in competition that lasted a whopping 33 days, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team resumed its road-heavy schedule and opened up the new year on Friday afternoon by entering the F&M Open in Pennsylvania for the second straight season.
Returning to the same building that housed their latest appearance (a triple-header of duals against Michigan State, Bloomsburg, and the hosting Franklin & Marshall Diplomats), PC submitted 10 names to the bloated bracket in an event that entailed 29 universities altogether.
Youth was a recurring theme for the most successful Blue Hose performers on the day, carried to the team's best finish from the heavyweight frame of freshman
Nathan Carnes (285) who posted three consolation-round wins and had his hand raised four times collectively.
Already responsible for a pin against Sacred Heart in the squad's lone head-to-head W to this point, Carnes more than doubled his season's win count on Friday by mustering 35 total points in his six encounters.
Ryan Luna (141) and
Michael Ramirez (165) joined his company as other names who gained at least two triumphs, as Presbyterian hit nine team wins from start to end.

UP NEXT
- The tournament system is now in the rearview mirror for head coach
Mark Cody's club, focusing solely on duals from here on out (12 of them, to be exact) until postseason time. They'll remain on the road for their next set of bouts in exactly one week, a much shorter trek on this occasion to Davidson for two neutral clashes back-to-back.
- Presby will engage against Little Rock and Cleveland State in North Carolina to conclude this two-month stretch of meetings away from their home base. Those matchups will take place on January 12 at noon and 2:00 PM respectively.
- Just 48 hours later, PC makes their 2024 Templeton debut as they prep for Truett McConnell (an opponent whom they hammered last year in a 41-0 shutout).
