MOREHEAD, Ky. – Setting the stage for a series that has taken a turn for the dramatic in recent years, the Presbyterian College football team will participate in their third consecutive road game on Saturday afternoon by traveling to Morehead State.
Head coach
Steve Englehart's crew will be in pursuit of their first Pioneer League win at 2:00 PM tomorrow, competing against an MSU opponent who has not yet lost on their home turf.
After a cruel plot twist last week in the form of an 87-yard defensive touchdown in overtime – allowing San Diego to steal the game from under Presby's nose – the Scotsmen will search for their second straight W over the Eagles along with their second victory in a road setting.

OPPONENT PROFILE
• It's been an up-and-down debut season for first-year head coach Jason Woodman, leading the Eagles to a 3-3 mark. After starting the slate at 2-0, MSU has slumped somewhat to just one win in their last four attempts.
• Morehead began the PFL schedule on the right foot by outlasting Valparaiso at home 17-5, but was quickly brought back down to .500 after losing soundly to still-undefeated Butler last weekend 40-6.
• The Eagles are currently 3-0 when competing at home and 0-3 elsewhere. Woodman is looking to become the first-ever coach at Morehead State to win his first four home games after taking the job. The last time that an MSU coach started his career 3-0 at home was all the way back in 1979.
• Safety Matthew McClelland has already garnered four interceptions this season - leading the country in that category - while also ranking second in the PFL with 46 total tackles. The only player that he trails:
Alex Herriott by one.
• Saturday will be Homecoming for the Eagles. They've not won a Homecoming bout since 2021, falling to Butler and Valpo in their last two tries.
• Two members of Presbyterian's coaching staff have ties to Morehead State. Safeties coach and special teams coordinator
Will Kirkendall was an assistant at MSU in 2020 and '21, while cornerback coach
Khiyree Keith suited up for the Eagles and graduated in 2022. He had seven career INT's as a player, one of which came against PC during his senior year.
CLOSE CALLS
• Seemingly each time that the Blue Hose lock horns with Morehead State on the gridiron, the result is one that goes right down to the final minutes, evidenced by the fact that three of their four clashes have been decided by single digits.
• The last two meetings between PC and MSU have finished with a four-point margin of victory. Morehead escaped with a 14-10 decision two years ago, although coach Englehart's club gained a measure of revenge last November with a 31-27 triumph that closed the season altogether.
• Saturday's encounter in Kentucky will settle the current 2-2 tie between the Pioneer League opponents. Since the start of the '23 campaign, Presbyterian has witnessed eight conference games that concluded within a 10-point window.
• When PC bested the Eagles 11 months ago, safety
Brooks Russ-Martin turned in one of the most impactful defensive performances by a Presby player in recent memory. On that day, he caused and returned a fumble 97 yards for a touchdown, posted three tackles for a loss, and snared the game-clinching interception in the fourth quarter.
AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
• The Blue Hose flaunt two of the most explosive offensive playmakers at the FCS level, with running back
Zach Switzer and QB
Collin Hurst combining for over 1,300 yards from scrimmage.
• Switzer ranks third in America with 420 kick return yards (including a 90-yard special teams TD at Erskine). Additionally, the Tennesseean is #10 among all FCS players in all-purpose yardage (759).
• Meanwhile, Hurst has blossomed into the starting quarterback role as a redshirt-freshman, earning a Passing Efficiency rating of 163.9 (ninth in the country) and 15 yards per completion (fifth in FCS). He has completed 62 percent of his throws (second in the PFL), and ranks inside the nation's top 25 with nine touchdown passes.
300 (AND COUNTING) FOR HERRIOTT
• Spread out all over PC's Division I record book as one of the fiercest linebackers in the country, senior
Alex Herriott achieved another impressive on September 29 by collecting his 300th career tackle against Davidson.
• Just two other Presbyterian players have climbed to that number since the school made the D-I leap in 2007 (Donelle Williams and Colby Campbell), averaging 90 tackles per year since his freshman stint in 2021.
• After reaching a ridiculous 118 tackles last fall, Herriott has positioned himself to become the first PC defender in the D-I era to lead the team in tackling for four consecutive seasons. He has never missed a collegiate game and is a two-time All-PFL recipient.
PC + TEAM USA
• Flying to California last week to face off with San Diego, Presbyterian made history by becoming the first-ever college football team to lodge and practice at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, located seven miles from the city of San Diego.
• The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center is a 155-acre facility that houses state-of-the-art scenic venues for over a dozen Olympic and Paralympic sports.
• The complex was created in 1995, the first of its kind to be master-planned from the ground up. Abbreviated as "CVEATC", the facility has housed thousands of athletes who have gone on to compete at the past eight Summer Olympic games.
• Presbyterian spent the week practicing at the Team USA Rugby facility, the first college football team of any governing body to do so. PC took a group photo at the conclusion of their first practice at the complex, a picture that is now on display at the CVEATC Dining Hall alongside dozens of other world-renowned athletes to have won medals representing the United States.
