ROCK HILL, S.C. – Members of Presbyterian's men's tennis team competed in the Big South Fall Individual Championships at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C., October 25-27. The doubles duos of
David Mamalat and
Evgenios Vasilakis and
Pedro Cardoso and
Daksh Prasad reached the semifinals. Mamalat won two singles matches to advance to the semifinals.
DOUBLES
Mamalat and Vasilakis defeated Radford's Evan Edwards and Tom Saporta, 8-5, in the quarterfinals. Then, they lost to Gardner-Webb's Kim Niethammer and Jurie Terblanche, 8-5, in the semifinals.
Cardoso and Prasad defeated UNC Asheville's Olle Sonesson Lidholt and Cian Ingles, 8-7 (7-5) in the quarterfinals. Then, they fell to eventual champion Gardner-Webb's Eduardo Dias and Numa Lemieux-Monette, 8-2, in the semifinals.
SINGLES
Mamalat defeated Gardner-Webb's Johan Van Wijk, 6-3, 6-0, in his first match. Then, he defeated UNC Asheville's Freddy Murray, 6-0, retired, to advance to the semifinals. He lost to Gardner-Webb's Niethammer, 6-3, 6-1, in the semifinals.
Vasilakis defeated Radford's Saporta, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3, to advance to the quarterfinals. Then, he lost to the eventual champ Gardner-Webb's Dias, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarters.
Cardoso lost to Gardner-Webb's Niethammer, 6-1, 6-1, in his first match. He lost to UNC Asheville's Sal Gandepalli, 6-4, 6-4, in the consolation draw.
