Blue Hose Begin Conference Slate with Pair of Road Tests

After a delay of the beginning of their conference season, the Presbyterian Blue Hose volleyball team is ready to kick off Big South competition with a pair of road tests this weekend. The team will travel to High Point, North Carolina on Friday to face the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. before heading to Radford, Virginia on Saturday to battle with the Highlanders at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose picked up their first straight-set victory of the season after closing out the Terrier Invite with a 3-0 win over SC State. PC took the upper hand in kills, assists, digs, and service aces against the Bulldogs, while hitting at a .326 rate and holding SC State to a mere -.029 hitting percentage. Ashley Miller stood out among Presby's squad as she tallied 12 kills at a .400 hitting percentage. Courtney Williams was named to the Terrier Invite's All-Tournament team for her performances on the weekend, which included nine kills and a .444 hitting percentage against the Bulldogs.
 
A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
- The Blue Hose currently hold a 4-9 record, securing their wins in hard-fought five-set matches against Delaware State, Temple, and Southern Miss along with a straight-set victory over SC State.
- The team has averaged a .179 hitting percentage while taking 10.5 kills per set. They've also shown strength at the net, amassing 108 total blocks, averaging 1.93 blocks per set.
- Three players have tallied triple-digit kills this season, with sophomores Courtney Williams (135 kills) and Julia Yurkovich (130 kills) leading the team. Senior Hannah Rowe is close behind with 111 kills, adding depth to the offense.
- Junior setter Anna Baranski has been instrumental, totaling 420 assists (7.50 per set) while also leading the team defensively with 178 digs (3.18 per set).
- Defensively, sophomore outside hitter Courtney Williams anchors the Blue Hose at the net with 48 total blocks, 11 of which are solo efforts. Brittney Daphnis is a close second, adding 44 blocks, including six solo blocks.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – HIGH POINT
- The Panthers finished their non-conference slate with a 7-4 record, including wins over Fairfield, Mercer, Western Michigan, and Princeton.
- The team has put up a .221 hitting percentage while averaging 12.7 kills per set.
- Graduate student outside hitter Dylan Maberry leads the team with 192 kills (4.09 kills per set).
- Senior setter Allie Gray leads the Panthers with 260 assists (7.22 assists per set) while redshirt sophomore setter Hannah Hawkins is close behind with 217 (6.20 assists per set).
- On the defensive end, junior defensive specialist Jordyn Schilling had totaled 210 digs (4.47 digs per set) while senior middle blocker Arica Davis leads the squad with 68 total blocks.
- Head coach Ryan Meek is in his seventh season at the helm of the Panthers program.
- The Panthers beat PC in the Big South Championships last season 3-0. High Point leads the all-time series between the two teams 4-26.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – RADFORD
- The Highlanders totaled a 3-8 record during their non-conference schedule, picking up their wins over Rider, West Georgia, and Nicholls.
- The team has averaged 12.9 kills per set, at a .231 hitting percentage.
- Graduate student outside hitter Sydney Mundkowsky leads the team with 142 kills (4.30 kills per set).
- Senior setter Julia Slivka is the team's go-to passer with 244 assists (6.42 assists per set).
- Senior middle blocker Sophia Paspal is a force at the net defensively with 42 total blocks (1.02 blocks per set).
- Radford leads the all-time series between the two teams 17-14. The last time these teams faced off, the Highlanders walked away with a straight-set victory.
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Presbyterian players have already recorded an impressive 16 double-doubles across their first 13 matches of the season. Junior setter Anna Baranski has been at the forefront, achieving double-doubles in 11 of those contests, including nine-straight matches with double-figure assists and digs. Senior outside hitter Hannah Rowe has also made a significant impact, tallying five double-doubles, including a standout performance against Southern Miss where she notched a career-high 19 kills along with 14 digs.
