CLEMSON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (0-3) was bested by the Clemson Tigers (3-0) after a hard-fought four quarters on Monday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Presbyterian won the jumpball before
Shelby Fiddler set the tone for the first quarter with an early three-point bucket. Clemson answered, taking the lead, but a strong layup from
Kishyah Anderson followed by a three from the veteran
Paige Kindseth put the Blue Hose back in front 8-5. An exchange of points brought PC's lead to a score of 12-9, but the Tigers were able to score the last 10 points of the first quarter to take a 19-12 lead.
Second Quarter
The first four points of the second quarter came from the opponents, before
Laney Scoggins fought through a pair of defenders with a reverse layup. Another four points from the other side gave Clemson a 27-14 advantage, but again Scoggins halted their momentum with a jumper. Although
Aminata Tal and Kindseth each picked up another basket for PC, Clemson was able to extend their lead to 41-20 before heading into the halftime break.
Third Quarter
Presbyterian was held to four points, while the Tigers extended their lead to 63-24.
Fourth Quarter
An even start to the final 10 minutes of play saw a jumper from Kindseth and a layup by Anderson. After a streak of points from the Tigers, the Blue Hose were able to add five points to their total, closing out the game with Clemson ahead 81-33.
