CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (0-4) fell to the UNC Wilmington Seahawks (2-2) with an overtime thriller and a final score of 78-74.
Thursday afternoon held PC's education day where students from schools surrounding the Clinton, S.C. area were in attendance. Students were able to participate in various activities, fill out an interactive Blue Hose packet, and get autographs signed by their favorite women's basketball players.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
A fast start for the Blue Hose saw a pair of baskets by
Paige Kindseth, quickly giving PC a 6-0 advantage. A pair of free throws put the Seahawks on the board, before UNCW cut their deficit to 8-7. Presbyterian didn't let up as a pair of layups from
Kishyah Anderson and a three from
Shelby Fiddler brought us to the end of the first quarter with Presby ahead 15-7.
Second Quarter
UNCW started off strong in the second quarter, opening with a three-point basket. Five points from
Aminata Tal kept the Blue Hose in front at 20-14. With just under seven minutes to play in the first half, the Seahawks tied up the score at 22 points apiece. A three-point play from Anderson prevented UNCW from taking the lead. However, the Seahawks took the next six points six points, giving them a 28-25 advantage.
The Blue Hose sunk four-straight free throws, gaining a 29-28 lead. With a minute left to play, the Seahawks took a tight 30-29 advantage. Tal's fast break buzzer beater put Presbyterian ahead by one, with a halftime score of 31-30.
Third Quarter
A three-point play from the opponents switched the lead early in the second half. Anderson led the charge for PC as they scored eight of the next 11 points, controlling a 39-36 lead. With 2:00 to play, the Blue Hose held a slim 41-40 lead, but some back-and-forth ended with UNCW ahead 45-43. A pair of free throws from Tal and a late layup by Kindseth put the score at 47-45 with PC leading at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Heading into the final 10 minutes of play, both teams battled evenly, racing to a 51-48 score. The Seahawks were able to take 11 unanswered points and a 59-53 lead. Fiddler added a pair of triples before Anderson's layup, with under a minute on the clock, tied the score at 63-63. Kindseth's contested shot as the buzzer sounded fell just short, prompting a final five minutes of overtime.
Overtime
Both teams played strong in the final minutes of play as the tie was pushed to 67-67. UNCW pulled ahead, taking a 73-67 advantage. Tal drew a foul to bring PC within striking distance, but the opponents answered with two foul shots of their own. Another layup from Tal cut Presby's deficit to four points, but three points from the other side made it 78-71. Despite Tal's late three, UNCW walked away with a 78-74 overtime victory.

- Kindseth notched her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- Anderson took a career-high of 23 points while posting six rebounds and six steals.
- Tal finished with a career-high of 20 points with six rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Scoggins added a personal-best of 10 rebounds.
