Stewart’s Double-Double Leads Presbyterian Past Wofford

CLINTON, S.C.  – Behind Kobe Stewart's double-double, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (2-2) topped the Wofford Terriers (1-2), 71-68, in front of a loud energetic crowd in the Templeton Center on Wednesday night.
 
Stewart scored 26 points (21 of the points were scored in the second half) and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Carl Parrish scored 11 points and Kory Mincy added 10 points and four assists to Presbyterian's efforts.
 
Presbyterian rallied from a 40-32 halftime deficit out scoring Wofford, 39-28, in the second half.  
 
Wofford's Corey Tripp led four Terriers' double-figure scorers with 15 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Presbyterian's Kaleb Scott scored the game's first two points. At the 15:19 mark, Presbyterian's Iverson King, who scored eight points in the game, connected on a three giving the Blue Hose a 7-5 lead. Wofford scored eight straight points taking a 13-7 lead with 13:24 on the clock. Wofford led the entire rest of the half pushing their lead to 11 points, 36-25, with 2:23 on the clock. The Blue Hose scored seven of the final 11 points of the half cutting Wofford's halftime lead to 40-32.
 

SECOND HALF 
– Presbyterian scored eight of the half's first 12 points cutting Wofford's lead to 46-40 after a three from Parrish with 15:25 on the clock. Stewart scored five points during the run. With Wofford leading 48-40 with 14:56 on the clock, the Blue Hose went on a 20-4 run taking a 60-52 lead with 7:42 on the clock after Jaylen Peterson scored inside. Stewart scored 10 straight points during the run including connecting on a three which tied the score at 50 with 12:36 left in the half. The Blue Hose led 70-63 after Stewart made a free throw with 37 ticks on the clock. Wofford scored five straight points cutting Presbyterian's lead to 70-68. Jonah Pierce connected on a free throw with six seconds on the clock closing out the win for the Blue Hose. 
 
NOTES
  • Stewart's double-double was his first of the season and the third of his career. Stewart's 26 points marked his third double-figure scoring game of the season and the 24th of his career.
  • Parrish's 11 points was his third double-digit scoring game of the season and the fifth of his career.
  • Mincy recorded his fourth double-figure scoring game of the season and the tenth of his career with his 10 points.
  • The Blue Hose finished the game with a 12-6 advantage in fast break points.
  • In the second half, the Blue Hose shot 51.9 percent (14-for-27) from the field while limiting Wofford to 36.7 percent (11-for-30) from the field.
