Damorney Hutchinson, the Blue Hose came from behind to defeat the Winthrop Eagles, 2-1, on the road in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals.
BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT
The Blue Hose, the sixth seed, are making their eighth appearance in the Big South Conference Tournament. Presbyterian won the 2017 Big South Tournament title after defeating Campbell and topping Radford and High Point on penalty kicks. Presbyterian is making their sixth appearance and the first since 2019 in the Big South Tournament semifinals.
ALL-BIG SOUTH
Four members of the Presbyterian College Blue Hose men's soccer team earned All-Big South accolades highlighted by Hutchinson capturing the Offensive Player of the Year award, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Hutchinson and senior midfielder
Carson Griffith were First Team All-Big South selections. Junior midfielder
Steven Cordova was Second Team All-Big South. Freshman midfielder
Morgan Dance was an Honorable Mention All-Big South selection and All-Freshman Team honoree. For the second consecutive season, Griffith was on the Big South All-Academic team.
NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After his prolific goal-scoring week, Hutchinson was namedÂ
TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week on September 17. Hutchinson is the first player in the program's history to garner National Player of the Week accolades. He was also named to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week becoming the sixth player in Presbyterian's Division I era to claim National Team of the Week honors. Hutchinson scored four goals leading the Blue Hose to wins over Coastal Carolina and VMI to earn the awards.
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
On September 16, Hutchinson captured Big South Offensive Player of the Week honors, and freshman midfielder
Jonas Sundli-Hardig was the league's Freshman of the Week. Hutchinson was the third player in the program's history to earn Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Sundli-Hardig was the tenth player in school history to be named Big South Freshman of the Week.
On October 7, Hutchinson was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week again. Dance claimed the Big South Freshman of the Week award. Hutchinson is the first player in the program's history to capture multiple Big South Offensive Player of the Week awards in the same season. Dance is the 11th player in school history named Big South Freshman of the Week.
On November 4, Rabarivony captured Big South Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Rabarivony is the fourth different player in the program's history to claim that award. Sundli-Hardig was the league's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. He is the third player in school history to earn multiple Big South Freshman of the Week awards.
