CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (1-9) fell to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-1) on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 73-46.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Coastal Carolina held a 6-2 lead after the first two minutes of play before the Blue Hose picked up the pace. 12 unanswered points gave PC a 14-6 advantage, behind five points from
Kishyah Anderson, four from
Laney Scoggins, and a three ball from
Shelby Fiddler. The Chanticleers slowly inched back despite
Paige Kindseth and
Teresa Mbemba adding buckets, closing out the first quarter with Presbyterian in front 18-17.
Second Quarter
The opponents came out strong in the second quarter, jumping to a 39-22 lead.
Third Quarter
Despite Mbemba's layup early in the second half, Coastal Carolina took seven of the first nine points, extending their lead to 46-24. Scoggins sank a free throw before Kindseth's and Anderson's jumpers landed, but the Chanticleers held a 57-29 lead after three quarters of play.
Fourth Quarter
A fast break layup from Scoggins opened the final 10 minutes of play, but the opponents answered with a layup. Kindseth added to her tally before we saw three straight layups from the other side. Led by three-pointers from
Ellie Southards and Kindseth, the Blue Hose took 13 points while holding Coastal Carolina to eight. Ultimately, the Chanticleers walked away with a 73-46 victory.
NOTABLES
- Kindseth finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds, marking her second double-double of the season.
- Anderson led the team with 11 points, her sixth double-figure scoring game of the season.
- Scoggins notched nine points with six rebounds.
