SAN JUAN, P.R. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (1-10) wasn't able to pull of the win over the Morgan State Bears (6-7) in their first game in Puerto Rico on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Morgan State got on the board first before
Paige Kindseth answered with a jumper. The Bears took a triple, but
Kishyah Anderson's layup kept it a one-point game. The Blue Hose took three more points, but Morgan State closed out the first quarter with a 17-7 advantage.
Second Quarter
The Bears took the first points of the second quarter before Danielle Velez knocked down a three. Some back-and-forth saw points from Kindseth,
Morgan Boyd, and
Sonia Sato, setting the score at 24-16 at the media timeout. Morgan State continued to push ahead, but
Natalie Herrin's three-point buzzer beater added to Presbyterian's tally, cutting their deficit to 30-21 at the halftime break.
Third Quarter
The first four points of the second half went to the opponents, but Kindseth and
Aminata Tal answered with a basket each, sending us to the media timeout at 34-25. The exchange of points continued as the score was pushed to 38-29 with just over a minute on the clock. Boyd drew a foul and sank both of her free throws, but Morgan State answered with three points before the third quarter ended with the Bears leading 41-31.
Fourth Quarter
Boyd and Anderson began the final quarter strong, adding a layup each. Anderson's next bucket brought the difference to five points, but the Bears answered with the next five points.
Laney Scoggins grabbed her own rebound and put it back up for two points before Boyd added a pair of free throws, but it wasn't enough to stop Morgan State from taking a 54-41 victory.

- The Blue Hose outrebounded their opponents 35-33.
- Anderson tallied eight points while shooting perfectly from the field (4-of-4). She also added five rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Boyd also took eight points and five rebounds.
- Kindseth notched seven points and 10 rebounds.
