Kory Mincy scored 27 points but the Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-5) came up short in a 66-63 loss to the Florida A&M Rattlers (2-5) on the road on Tuesday evening.
Mincy led all scorers with 27 points.
Kobe Stewart added 14 points to the Blue Hose's efforts.
Kaleb Scott grabbed 13 rebounds while scoring nine points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Florida A&M scored 11 of the game's first 15 points taking an 11-4 lead with 13:18 on the clock. Mincy scored the Blue Hose's first four points of the contest. Then, Presbyterian went on an 8-0 run taking a 13-11 lead after Mincy connected on a three from the wing with 9:17 left in the half. Stewart,
Iverson King, and
Jaylen Peterson also scored during the run. With the score tied at 15 with eight minutes on the clock, Florida A&M scored seven straight points regaining the lead. The Rattlers would take a 32-22 halftime lead.
SECOND HALF – Presbyterian scored the first four points of the half after a free throw from Stewart and a three from
Jamahri Harvey. The Rattlers pushed their lead back to double-figures 38-26 with 17:43 on the clock. The Blue Hose scored nine straight points with Mincy scoring seven of those points to cut FAMU's lead to 38-35 after a layup by Mincy with 13:15 on the clock. Florida A&M scored five straight points pushing their lead to eight points. With 8:47 on the clock. Florida A&M increased their lead to 50-37. Presbyterian scored 15 of the next 18 points cutting Florida A&M's lead to 55-52 after two free throws from Mincy with 4:04 on the clock. The game remained tight for the remaining four minutes when Stewart knocked down two free throws with five seconds on the clock got the Blue Hose within one point, 64-63, but Florida A&M made two free throws to seal the win.
