CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (4-4) won the doubles point and
David Mamalat and
Pedro Cardoso recorded singles wins but the Blue Hose suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to the Chattanooga Mocs (5-6) on the road on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES
Presbyterian won at number one and two doubles to capture the doubles point. At number one doubles, Presbyterian's
Javier Matos and
Denim Yadav tallied PC's first win with a 6-2 victory. Presbyterian's
Marco Foglieni and Mamalat clinched the doubles point for the Blue Hose with a 6-3 win at number two doubles. At number three doubles, Presbyterian's Cardoso and
Evgenios Vasilakis were leading 5-4, when the match was stopped since the Blue Hose had captured the doubles point.
SINGLES
Chattanooga won four of the six singles matches. Chattanooga took a 3-1 lead after wins at number four, two, and three singles. Cardoso won for the fourth time in his last five matches with a 6-3, 7-5 win at number six singles. Mamalat tied the score at three after rallying for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at number six singles. Mamalat has now won four of his last five matches. The overall victory came down to the winner at number one singles. Presbyterian's Matos had set points in the first set but he lost the set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (9-7). He responded with a 6-2 win in the second set. In the third set, he won the first two games but he would lose the third set.
