CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's tennis team (2-4) has a packed weekend of matches at the Templeton Tennis Courts. On Friday, February 9 the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (4-3) come to town for a double header starting at 11 a.m. The following day PC hosts the North Greenville Crusaders (0-2) with a first serve at 11 a.m.

SCOUTING THE BELMONT ABBEY CRUSADERS
- Over Belmont Abbey's first seven matches they have totaled a 4-3 record with wins over Mars Hill (x2), UVA Wise, and Methodist.
- Sophomore Riner Hanley leads the team with three singles wins, playing in the numbers one, two, and three spots.
- Freshman Mackenzie McCarthy teamed up with Hanley in doubles matches to lead the team with a 3-2 record with two wins in the number two spot and one win in the number one spot.
- The Blue Hose played the Crusaders in 2021 and 2022 where PC swept both matches 7-0.
- Presbyterian leads the all-time series between the two teams 2-0.

SCOUTING THE NORTH GREENVILLE CRUSADERS
- North Greenville played a pair of dual matches in the fall where they fell to Limestone and Tusculum. Saturday's match will be their first dual match since the Fall season.
- In Singles Freshman Abigail Watson has a 1-1 record in the number one spot, while Freshman Vitoria Maximiliano has a 1-1 record in the number two spot.
- Watson and Maximiliano teamed up for the number one spot in doubles matches where they went 1-1.
- The Blue Hose played the Crusaders back in 2008 and then again in 2014 where PC won both matches 7-0.
- Presbyterian leads the all-time series between the two teams 2-0.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
- After being picked third in the conference's preseason poll, which is the highest in the program's history, Presbyterian currently has a 2-4 record with wins over Queens and Lander.

Claudia Sanchez leads the Blue Hose with a 4-1 singles record with a win in the number two spot and three wins in the number three spot.

Valentina De Sousa in doubles to win two matches in the number two spot and one match in the number three spot.

BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
On February 7 junior
Claudia Sanchez was named Big South Player of the Week after her performance throughout the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4. The Betera, Valencia, Spain native went 3-0 in all singles matches played last week. She won 6-1, 6-2 at the number three spot in singles against Lander, and then 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 at the number three flight over Costal Carolina. Sanchez concluded her week with a 7-5, 6-2 straight set victory over UNC Wilmington in the number two spot.

Head coach
Joel Roberts 2024 spring slate features 21 matches including 16 outside of the conference beginning with this weekend's matches in Charlotte. PC will play 11 matches at the Templeton tennis courts here at Presbyterian College this spring. In conference play, PC hosts Longwood, Gardner-Webb, and Charleston Southern.
