Next Four in Clinton for Softball, Taking on Drexel and Wofford over Four-Day Window

CLINTON, S.C. – With inclement weather forcing the Presbyterian College softball team to delay their next appearance by a length of three additional days, the Blue Hose will return to the field after a week-long absence for a non-conference series against Drexel on Saturday and Sunday.

Following that three-game layout with the Dragons, PC will redo their first-ever meeting against startup program Wofford on March 5, a bout that was originally scheduled for Wednesday before the threat of precipitation arrived.

Head coach David Williams' group will look to continue their strong reputation when competing on their home base, gathering 21 combined wins in Clinton since February of 2022. Four of their five W's thus far have taken place at the PC Softball Complex, although their most recent victory came in Charlotte over Queens by an 8-5 clip.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – DREXEL

- In what will be the inaugural series between the Blue Hose and their Pennsylvania-based opponent, the Dragons will travel to the Palmetto State with just one win in 10 attempts throughout the 2024 campaign.

- Starting the semester 0-8 until breaking that streak with a 5-3 triumph against Sacred Heart at a tournament in Greensboro, head coach Katie Jansson's third year in Philly has begun with a 13-game sequence of purely road / neutral encounters.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – WOFFORD

- Delaying the first-ever matchup between two schools separated by 30 minutes of road, a thrust of rain and wind pushed back PC's affair with the Terriers to next Tuesday instead.

- Chelsea Butler was tasked with bringing Wofford softball into existence for the 2024 season after spending the past three years at Maryland as an assistant, guiding the Spartanburg school to a .500 mark of 5-5 approaching the weekend.

- Before turning their attention to the Blue Hose, the Terriers will play five times at a South Carolina tourney, facing College of Charleston and Buffalo twice each with another meeting versus Evansville sandwiched in between.

- Wofford's first-ever weekend of play ended with sophomore Margaret Axelson being chosen as the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week, tossing a seven-inning shutout over Robert Morris while holding a team-best 0.47 ERA (15 frames altogether).

LAST TIME OUT

- Splitting a midweek two-parter at Queens in Charlotte before going to Georgia for a four-game round robin tourney, Presbyterian was unable to pick up a win in two tries each against Purdue Fort Wayne and Georgia Southern.

- The Blue Hose tallied two runs in three of their bouts in Statesboro, falling at the hands of IPFW in a 10-inning thriller last Friday (the team's longest contest since February of 2020, which was a game that then-freshman Jenna Greene threw all 12 innings of as PC downed Butler).

- Williams' crew has captured 21 victories on their home turf since last spring, currently holding the second-highest batting average in the Big South (.282) as well the number one fielding percentage in the league (.970).
