CULLOWHEE, N.C. – One of the university's most recurring non-conference opponents is next on the radar for the Presbyterian College softball squad, making the short trip to the Tar Heel State to battle with Western Carolina on Tuesday in doubleheader format.
Streamed live on ESPN+, the Blue Hose will follow-up a much-needed road victory against Jacksonville less than 24 hours ago by tangling with the Catamounts at 2:00 PM with the second outing to follow immediately thereafter.
Since making the jump to the NCAA's Division I stage in 2008, Presbyterian has matched up with WCU 25 times and currently holds a 15-10 edge in that long-running series. Five of the past six meetings have tilted towards PC, including a Clinton sweep in February of 2023 by a combined margin of 11-7.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- It hasn't always been the smoothest of rides for the Catamounts in 2024 – only holding a .214 winning percentage with just over a month of the season in the can – although WCU will enter tomorrow's DH with unequivocally their most impressive showing of the semester: a 13-4 beatdown over N.C. Central in five innings.
- After seeing their first 10 outings outside their home base, Western Carolina cruised past the Eagles with a seven-run sequence in the 3
rd on their way to 17 hits in only five turns and a whopping five homers.
- That defiantly snapped a 10-game losing skid for head coach Jim Clift in his 13
th campaign, loading up 11 runs higher than their per-game average going into that contest.
LAST TIME OUT
- Unable to slow a sizzling Marist adversary on Friday before taking a 6-2 setback against Tarleton State in their next appearance, Presbyterian closed the Jacksonville Spring Break Challenge by besting the hosting Dolphins on Sunday by a 5-2 clip.
- Responsible for halting a JU 4-game winning streak (one that included a landmark triumph over then-#12 Florida State), head coach
David Williams' club reached its fourth performance of the year with at least 10 hits, settling on 11.
- Super-senior
Jenna Greene turned in a characteristic effort by turning back the Dolphins for just one hit in the last three innings, limiting Jacksonville to zero after the 3
rd in what amounted to her 53
rd career win (the most in PC history).
- Freshman
Kasey Wolfe landed a couple of RBI in the three-score decision – adding to her team-best total of 13 for the year – while four Blue Hose players mustered at least two connections at the plate.
