Blue Hose Take Game One of Series Against Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (12-14) beat the Gardner-Webb Runnin Bulldogs (8-16) in the first game of their conference series with a score of 6-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jay Wetherington started off the game with a single through the left side before Brody Fahr advanced him to second with a single of his own. After runners advance to second and third, Noah Lebron grabbed an RBI to put PC on the board first.
- In the top of the third inning, Joel Dragoo drew a walk before Rhogue Wallace reached on a fielder's choice. Wallace was able to steal third base, and then steal home to give Presby their second run of the night.
- In the top of the fifth inning, Dragoo reached first base, before two walks loaded the bases for the Blue Hose. Hugus then singled to left field, bringing two runners home and extending PC's lead to four runs. After Aaron Hobson drew a walk, Eli Lazio gave PC two more runs with a single to left field which made the score 6-0.
- The Runnin Bulldogs took their first run of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut PC's lead to five runs with a score of 6-1.
- Gardner-Webb was able to take one last run in the bottom of the ninth, but ultimately the Blue Hose came out on top with a 6-2 victory.
 
NOTABLES
- Daniel Eagen stepped off the mound after pitching for the first 5.0 innings while throwing 11 strikeouts while allowing just one hit and no runs.
- Jay Wetherington recorded three hits and a run.
- Jackson Hugus totaled two RBIs, one hit, and one run.
