CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Ahead of the highly anticipated Big South Championship later this week, the league office has unveiled its annual postseason awards. Among the notable recipients are sixth-year center
Bryanna Brady and sophomore guard
Tilda Sjökvist, both securing spots on the Second Team All-Conference roster. Additionally, Sjökvist has been honored with a place on the league's All-Academic team.
Brady concluded the regular season with stellar performances, boasting a team-leading average of 12.4 points per game, placing her seventh overall in the conference. The Goodyear, Arizona native also stood out at the free-throw line, ranking third in the league with an impressive 79.0% accuracy rate. Her defensive contributions were equally notable, securing third place in blocked shots, averaging 0.8 per game.
In addition to her scoring prowess, Brady led the team with an average of 4.6 rebounds per game, tallying a total of 77 defensive boards and 65 on the offensive side. Her efficiency on the court was evident, shooting an impressive 50.7% from the field and accumulating a total of 385 points for the Blue Hose. Brady's consistency was remarkable, achieving double-figure scoring in an impressive 22 games throughout the season.
Sjökvist finished the year ranked eighth in the conference with an average of 12.1 points per game while totaling an impressive 20 double-figure scoring games. Her playmaking abilities were evident as she secured third place in assists per game with 3.5 and also ranked fourth in the conference for her 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Additionally, Sjökvist displayed her prowess from beyond the arc, ranking third in the Big South with 1.6 three-point field goals per game.
The Huskvarna, Sweden native also demonstrated her elite level of endurance, ranking third in the conference for minutes per game with an impressive 33.4, totaling 1034 minutes on the season. Sjökvist's contributions to Presbyterian this season didn't stop there, as she also added 1.2 steals per game and 3.3 rebounds per game to her efforts.
Sjökvist excelled not only on the court but also in the classroom which helped her earn a spot on the conference's All-Academic team. She achieved recognition on the Dean's List last semester, attaining an impressive 3.45 GPA. As a sophomore currently undeclared in her major, she is poised to continue excelling both athletically and academically in the years ahead.
