MEMPHIS, TENN. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (8-6) won their first game at the Grind City Classic on Friday over the Jackson State Tigers (10-4) with a final score of 7-2 behind a home run from freshman
Mikah Conner.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson State scored the first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- The Blue Hose answered in the top of the fifth starting with a single from
Eli Lazio which advanced
Jackson Hugus to third base.
Jay Wetherington picked up an RBI single to right field before
Aaron Hobson matched him with another RBI single to the left side. Not long after,
Brody Fahr hit a double down the right field line to send Hobson in for the teams third run of the inning.
Joel Dragoo finished off the inning with a single to center field, picking up two RBIs.
- With PC in front 5-1 in the top of the seventh inning, freshman Mikah Connor hit a homer over the left field wall to put another one on the board for the Blue Hose.
- Hobson hit an RBI double down the left field line in the top of the ninth to give PC their seventh run of the day.
- The Tigers were able to put one more run on the board, but it wasn't enough to stop the Blue Hose from securing a 7-2 victory.
