COACH POLLOCK'S THOUGHTS
"It was truly a gutsy performance by
Charlie McDaniel on the mound today. He was able to grind it out for seven innings, and
Kyle Mueller was able to finish the game on the back end. Also, I give a lot of credit to our hitters who were resilient today, especially
Noah Lebron who came through with the big home run and winning RBI."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, the Highlanders got on the board first with a home run in the top of the second.
-
Adam Featherstone started out the bottom of the third inning with a double down the right line before
Eli Lazio advanced him to third with a sacrifice bunt.
Aaron Hobson then reached on a passed ball while Featherstone ran home for PC's first run of the day.
Jay Wetherington hit a sacrifice bunt which advanced Hobson to second base before
Brody Fahr sent him in for a run with his single through the right side. As the next batter,
Joel Dragoo hit a double to left center field to pick up the team's third run of the inning.
- After no runs from either side in the fourth inning, the Highlanders took a 4-3 lead after scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
- After Fahr drew a walk in the bottom of the sixth inning, Lebron hit one over the left field fence for a two-run home run. This put the Blue Hose back in front with a score of 5-4.
- Hobson singled to the shortstop to start off the bottom of the seventh inning. Wetherington then singled to left field, advancing Hobson to second base. Both Hobson and Wetherington stole bases, putting runners in scoring position on second and third base. Fahr then hit a two RBI double to left center field, extending Presby's lead to a score of 7-4. After Dragoo was intentionally walked, he and Fahr mirrored the earlier play, stealing both second and third base. Lebron then hit a sacrifice fly to send Fahr in and make the score 8-4.
- With Radford unable to score in the top of the ninth inning, the Blue Hose took victory in game two of the series with a score of 8-4.
