PC Drops First Game of Series with The Citadel

CLINTON, S.C. – On a day where the Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (25-24) honored their six seniors the team fell to The Citadel Bulldogs (18-29) with a score of 12-7.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Citadel took an early lead, scoring the first two runs of the night with a home run in the top of the first inning.
- In the bottom of the second inning, Noah Lebron singled through the right side, followed by Jake Randolph's single that advanced Lebron to third. A sacrifice fly by Jack Gorman brought Lebron home, marking the team's first run of the night.
- Joel Dragoo drew a walk to begin the bottom of the fourth inning. A sacrifice bunt from Lebron advanced him to second base. Dragoo then moved to third during the next at-bat and capitalized on a wild pitch, sprinting home to score. Jackson Hugus then took advantage of a Bulldog error and ran home to secure a 3-2 lead.
- The bottom of the fifth inning saw the bases loaded when Randolph delivered a crucial double, bringing in all three runners and boosting the Blue Hose to a 6-2 lead.
- The Bulldogs narrowed the gap in the top of the sixth inning, scoring two more runs to bring PC's lead down to 6-4.
- The Citadel had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the seventh inning before Robbie Boykin threw a huge strikeout to end the inning without any damage done.
- The Bulldogs took an 11-6 lead after scoring seven runs in the top of the eighth inning.
- Lebron was able to grab a run for PC after Gorman brought him in with a sacrifice fly.
- The Citadel took another run in the ninth inning to extend their lead to a score of 12-6.
 
NOTABLES
- Daniel Eagen achieved a significant milestone in the top of the fourth inning by throwing his 100th strikeout of the season, thereby etching his name into the record books as the program's all-time leader in strikeouts in a single season.
- Jake Randolph's three RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning put him up to five doubles and 15 RBIs so far this season.

The Blue Hose stay in Clinton for the second game of their series against the Citadel tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
