Presby Falls to CSU; Looks to Bounce Back Tomorrow in Early Battle

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The top-seeded Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (29-26) fell to the fourth-seeded Charleston Southern Buccaneers (22-30) in a nail-biting first game of the Big South Conference Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston Southern struck first, scoring in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
- After a scoreless second inning, the Buccaneers added another run in the third and two more in the fourth, extending their lead to 4-0 by the fifth inning.
- Eli Lazio led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk. Jay Wetherington followed with a single to left field, putting runners on second and third. Brody Fahr drew a walk to load the bases, and a ground out brought Lazio home for Presbyterian's first run. Noah Lebron then hit a single, and a throwing error allowed Fahr to score, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
- A quiet seventh inning led to the top of the eighth, where Charleston Southern hit a home run, making it 5-2.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Fahr walked, and Dragoo blasted a two-run homer over the left-center wall, narrowing CSU's lead to 5-4.
- Presbyterian made a final push in the bottom of the ninth, with Evan Cuervo's single leading to pinch runner Aaron Hobson reaching third base. However, the Blue Hose couldn't bring him home, and Charleston Southern secured a 5-4 victory.
