Blue Hose Ride to Furman for Mid-Week Grind

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Following a weekend of three hard-fought five-set matches at the Mercer Invitational, the Presbyterian College volleyball team (3-7) is set to take on Furman (4-4) in Greenville, South Carolina. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m.

The Blue Hose returned from the Mercer Invitational after enduring a trio of five-set battles. On Friday, they secured a victory over Southern Miss but later fell to Elon. The following day, Presbyterian wrapped up the tournament with a hard-fought loss to the host team, Mercer.
 
A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
- The Blue Hose currently hold a 3-7 record, securing their wins in hard-fought five-set matches against Delaware State, Temple, and Southern Miss.
- The team has a .169 hitting percentage while averaging 10.0 kills per set. They've shown strength at the net, amassing 95 total blocks, averaging 2.1 blocks per set.
- Two players have tallied triple-digit kills this season, with sophomore Julia Yurkovich leading the team with 110 kills (2.50 kills per set). Sophomore Courtney Williams has recorded 102 kills (2.22 kills per set), while senior Hannah Rowe is knocking on the door of triple-figure kills with 98 (2.51 kills per set), adding depth to the offense.
- Junior setter Anna Baranski has been instrumental, totaling 328 assists (7.13 per set) while also leading the team defensively with 145 digs (3.15 per set).
- Defensively, sophomore outside hitter Courtney Williams anchors the Blue Hose at the net with 45 total blocks, 10 of which are solo efforts. Brittney Daphnis is a close second, adding 39 blocks, including six solo blocks.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS – FURMAN
- The Paladins have recorded a 4-4 record with wins over Charlotte, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, and North Carolina A&T.
- Furman has averaged a .215 hitting percentage and 12.9 kills per set. They have also tallied 75.0 blocks at 2.34 blocks per set.
- Offensively, senior right-side Chandler Parker leads the team with 92 kills (2.88 kills per set). Senior outside hitter Ava Augustson is close behind with 62 kills (1.94 kills per set).
- On the defensive end, sophomore libero Kennedy Seekford leads the team with 149 digs (4.66 digs per set). Senior middle back Genevieve Perry is a force at the net with 28 total blocks including four solo efforts.
- Furman is led by head coach Michelle Young, now in her 25th season at the helm.
- The Paladins hold a 12-0 all-time advantage over the Blue Hose, with their most recent meeting resulting in a five-set defeat for Presbyterian last season.
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Presbyterian players have already recorded an impressive 13 double-doubles across their first 10 matches of the season. Junior setter Anna Baranski has been at the forefront, achieving double-doubles in nine of those contests, extending her streak to seven straight matches after her performance against Mercer. Senior outside hitter Hannah Rowe has also made a significant impact, tallying four double-doubles, including a standout performance against Southern Miss where she notched a career-high 19 kills along with 14 digs.
