CLINTON, S.C. – Responsible for half of the Presbyterian College women's soccer team's four-goal total in Sunday's victory over South Carolina State, redshirt-sophomore Lina-Marie Müller has been selected as the first Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week in the 2024-25 academic year.
An All-Big South second-team member last season thanks to six assists and three scores, Müller has already equaled her individual goal tally from 2023 in only 328 minutes.
A native of Germany, Lina produced Presbyterian's first goal of the new campaign during a season-starting 3-2 thriller over Wofford. She was nearly unstoppable in a 4-1 win against S.C. State two nights ago, needing only two minutes and 19 seconds to put her squad on the board.
That was PC's quickest goal to start a match since September of 2022, later adding another connection at 49:05 which pushed the lead to a deuce.
Led by head coach
Matt Smith, the Blue Hose have penned their best start to a season in six years (4-1). Should they win their next two contests against The Citadel and Georgia State, they'd match the program's highest winning streak since transitioning to the D-I level (2007).
Nearly 45 percent of Müller's goals have been guided on-target, leading PC's roster at the moment with six points on the year. She has plastered at least three shots in four of the team's five encounters, including a season-high six attempts in the W over the Bulldogs.
LOOKING AHEAD
Thursday's visit to The Citadel will serve up an intriguing matchup against a Charleston-based club who has published the same number of wins as the Blue Hose. They've yet to take a loss at this point, tying with Gardner-Webb before blasting Toccoa Falls 9-0 in their last appearance.
First touch in 48 hours is scheduled for 4:00 PM, broadcasted live on ESPN+.
