BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team (0-3) fell to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (1-1) on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama.
DOUBLES
The Gamecocks won the doubles matches in the second and third positions to claim the doubles point. Presbyterian's
McKenzie Davis and
Madison Dennett defeated Jacksonville State's Anna Sytova and Ella Tuomela in an exciting first position doubles battle, 7-6 (7-1).
SINGLES
Jax State won five of the six singles matches, three of which were straight-set victories. Davis won her first singles match of the spring season while competing in the second position, taking a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win over the Gamecock's Lea Erenda.
Claudia Sanchez played in the first position and forced a third set against Jax State's Irene Artigas, but ultimately fell 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Elle Sceney put up a solid fight in the sixth position against the Gamecock's Aneka Patel, falling 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).
