Presbyterian Meets Panthers in Crucial Conference Tilt

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team has arrived at the final four matches of the 2025 regular season, remaining on the road this weekend for a Saturday duel with High Point. First touch will take place at 4:00 PM.

ESPN+ will be streaming the Big South matchup, as both clubs will be looking for their first league victory of the fall. In the case of High Point, the Panthers will be hunting their first win of the year altogether as both sides enter a seemingly must-win situation.

The Blue Hose fell in the final moments at Longwood last weekend, while HPU earned a tie against Charleston Southern. Both teams have one point in the current Big South standings, hoping to move into the top six and thus qualify for the postseason.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS

- Advancing all the way to the Big South championship game last November thanks to a thrilling overtime W over Radford, High Point was pounded by USC Upstate for the title (3-0) and has yet to win a match since.

- The Panthers have managed three draws (tying with College of Charleston and Campbell in addition to CSU), but have scored just a single time in their last seven appearances.

- Against Charleston Southern, High Point struck first at 33:32 only for the Bucs to even the odds less than six minutes later. Neither side scored again for the remainder of the match, allowing HPU to pick up their first point in the conference standings.

- Head coach Aaron McGuiness has his squad at 0-4-1 when playing at home, winning 15 out of 19 all-time matches against Presbyterian.

LAST TIME OUT

- In their return to Longwood after beating the Lancers in the Big South Quarterfinals, the Blue Hose were unable to repeat the result of that night in a 1-0 defeat.

- PC and Longwood had tied the last four times they faced off prior to Saturday's event (Presby won in PK's during the conference tournament), and it looked like that would be the case again until the Lancers scored the game-winner at 83:14.

- The Scotsmen registered three second-half shots after putting up eight in the first 45 minutes, unable to deliver the equalizer with just over six minutes on the clock after trailing one-nil.

SUPERB STATS

- With at least four matches left in what's been a stellar career in the blue and garnet, senior attacker Sloan Spees lacks one more goal to become the school record-holder in the Division I era (2007 onward).

- She landed her 16th strike in a Senior Night triumph over Alabama A&M, now tied with Sara Simpson who has held the PC record since 2013.

- Second-year rising star Allie Williams found her fourth assist of the season in a tie with UNC Asheville, tying her with two others for the most in the Big South.

- Rookie stopper Febe Dombrecht holds the second-highest count of saves per match among the nine regular starters in the conference (five). She has 42 total deflections across her debut year.
