Women’s Soccer Wraps Up 2025 with Day Trip to CSU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team will say their farewell to the 2025 campaign on Wednesday afternoon with a visit to Charleston Southern. Big South match number eight will get started at 3:00 PM.

After a hard-fought two-all tie versus Winthrop four days ago, the Blue Hose have unfortunately been removed from contention in the conference tournament next week. They'll look to play spoiler tomorrow against an opponent who needs a win to get themselves in the postseason.

ESPN+ will have live coverage of the '25 closer, a matchup that never happened last year due to the effects of Hurricane Helene. PC has not played Charleston Southern on the road in four years, last meeting in Clinton for a 1-1 draw in 2023.

SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS

- CSU enters tomorrow's affair with a must-win mentality, just one spot away from nabbing the sixth seed in the Big South bracket. They trail Winthrop by a single point in the league standings, a team they defeated 1-0 back in September.

- Head coach Jose Gomez' bunch missed out on the tourney last season, a blemish that they would face again should they lose to the Blue Hose.

- After tying High Point 1-1 earlier this month, the Bucs have taken a one-point loss to Gardner-Webb, a 5-2 blowout at the hands of Longwood, and were most recently on the wrong end of a 2-0 shutout opposite Radford.

- Over half of CSU's 20 goals this year have come from Jenéa Knight and Sedona Dancu (11 combined), while keeper Avery Mason has hauled the second-most saves in the Big South (70).

LAST TIME OUT

- Senior captain Sloan Spees set a new Presbyterian D-I record with her 17th career goal against Winthrop and Anna Hussey registered her second score of the season within the last 60 seconds of the opening half.

- That 2-0 edge wouldn't be enough to keep the Eagles down for the whole night, however. The visitors scored twice within the first 15 minutes of half number two, bringing the potential win down to a tie instead.

- Winthrop lodged only three second-half shots and were outgunned by PC 20-8 over the entire contest. Presby and the Eagles have now ended with a two-two tie in back-to-back seasons.

SPEES = ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

- On Tuesday afternoon, Spees was named the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking hit against Winthrop.

- The previous record was held by Sara Simpson from 2013 until now, as Spees landed her 39th career point in the process.

- It was the final home match in her career – which includes three All-Big South selections and 58 starts – picking a perfect night to become Presby's new D-I-era scoring leader.

WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS

- Sophomore Allie Williams still holds the highest number of assists among any player in the nine-team conference (five).

- She already has nine dimes in only two years, needing just one more assist to become the fourth player in PC's Division I era to have double-digits in that department.

- Meanwhile, Ella Williams (no relation) will complete her Blue Hose career tomorrow with a remarkable stat that few at any institution can achieve. She will have played in every single match of her entire time at PC, all the way back to 2022.

- That adds up to 66 matches and over 5,000 career minutes. Tomorrow will be Ella's 39th consecutive start, a stretch that began 24 months ago.
