FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team teed off in its final tournament of the fall on Saturday (Nov. 1) at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate, hosted by USC Upstate at Ocean Greek GC. Through one round, the Blue Hose are in second place with a score of 310 (+22). Charleston Southern has the lead, shooting +14 as a team to begin the tournament.
Maddie Peake carded her second-best round of the fall, posting a 73 to finish the day in second place to lead PC.
NOTABLES
- Peake sits five shots back of the lead after one round. She carded three birdies to go along with 10 pars to end the round in second. She finished the front nine -1.
- Sloane Spessard also sits inside the top five for the Blue Hose, concluding the first round in a tie for fifth place. She got off to a slow start on the front nine but rallied to finish the round. She went out in 41 but shot -1 on the back nine to finish in the top five. On the back nine, she carded two birdies and six pars in total.
- Emma Louise Hunt fired a 79 to start her tournament on Saturday. She shot a 42 on the front but battled on the back to card an even par 37 with two birdies. For the day, she made two birdies and finished with 11 pars.
- Taylor Reaves carded an 80 to round out the lineup for Presbyterian. She birdied the first hole and shot 40 on both nines. Individually, Gabi Charles carded a 92 to complete the day for the Blue Hose.
