Presbyterian Wraps Up Terrier Intercollegiate in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team completed its penultimate fall tournament on Tuesday at the Terrier Intercollegiate. The Blue Hose amassed a total score of 992 at the Country Club of Spartanburg, finishing in 12th place after two days. Sloane Spessard led PC individually, coming in 40th place for the tournament.

 

East Tennessee State took home the title with a final score of 891. Host Wofford finished second with a score of 897, while UNC Asheville and Appalachian State tied for third with an 899 score. Elon rounded out the top five, carding a 908.

 

The Blue Hose will compete in one more tournament in the fall in Fripp Island, South Carolina.

 


NOTABLES

 

- Sloane Spessard carded two birdies in her third and final round en route to finishing in 40th place with a total score of 239. She played her final seven holes of the third round at even par. She was consistent throughout the tournament, shooting rounds of 80, 79, and 80 to lead the Blue Hose in Spartanburg.

 

- Maddie Peake tied for Presbyterian's lowest round of the tournament in round two, carding a 79. She completed her last seven holes of round three at +2, finishing the tournament with a score of 247.

 

- Taylor Reaves made a total of 10 pars in her final round to complete her tournament with a score of 255. She made five straight pars in the last round and parred eight of nine holes from hole eight to 16.

 

- Emma Louise Hunt finished just two shots behind Reaves, carding a 257 across Monday and Tuesday. From the second round to the third round, Hunt improved her score by seven strokes, making two birdies and recording seven pars in round three. She completed the tournament with a total of three birdies, tied for second on the team.

 

- Addy Parker played her best round of the tournament in the third round to finish with a 259. In her second tournament of the fall, she improved her score each round, shooting nine shots better from the first round to round three. She also finished the final round on a positive note, shooting even par in her last eight holes of the day.

 


UP NEXT

 

- Head coach Columb Knight's team will compete in their final tournament of the fall at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate from Nov. 1-3.

 

- Last season, the Blue Hose finished in 6th place in the event at Ocean Creek GC.
