FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team concluded its first round of the Big South Championship on Sunday afternoon (April 19) at Ocean Creek GC.
Taylor Reaves led the Blue Hose with an outstanding opening round. She fired an even par 72 to end the day in fifth. Sloane Spessard finished one shot behind with a 73.
As a team, PC wrapped up the first round in eighth place with a total score of 315.
NOTABLES
- Taylor Reaves powered Presbyterian to begin the tournament, turning in a score of 72. She made par on every hole on the front nine and carded an eagle on the par-5 tenth hole. Her 72 is the second-lowest score of her collegiate career. She currently is in solo fifth place, just three shots out of the lead.
- Sloane Spessard also delivered an impressive performance on Sunday, carding a 1-over 73. She made five birdies on the day to lead the team while turning in her lowest score of the spring. She sits in a tie for sixth place after 18 holes and is four shots back of the leader. In the first round, she played holes five through fifteen an incredible -4.
- Addy Parker carded an opening round 84 to finish the day T37. She made seven pars and birdied the par-4 13th to begin her tournament.
- Emma Louise Hunt concluded the round two shots back of Parker with a first round 86. Finally, Maddie Peake turned in an 89 to end the day at Fripp Island.
