FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team wrapped up the final round of the Big South Championship on Tuesday afternoon (April 21) at Ocean Creek GC.
The Blue Hose finished in eighth place as a team with a total score of 962 in the team's last event of the spring.
Taylor Reaves and Sloane Spessard led PC for the tournament, both ending the championship in a tie for 18th place.
High Point claimed the stroke play title with a score of 898. Caroline Peterson from UNC Asheville won the individual title, finishing -1 to win by two shots over Makayla Grubb of High Point.
NOTABLES
- Taylor Reaves turned in an opening round 72 before concluding the tournament with rounds of 84 and 78 to finish T18. Her first round 72 is the second-lowest score of her collegiate career. In the third round, she made two birdies and 10 pars to finish strong at Fripp Island. Overall, she made three birdies and one eagle for the tournament.
- Sloane Spessard also finished the championship in a tie for 18th. She fired an opening round 73, followed by rounds of 82 and a 79 on Tuesday. In her first round, she made an impressive five birdies en route to her lowest score of the spring. She carded one birdie in round two and then three more to finish the tournament on the final day. Her nine birdies led the team.
- Maddie Peake improved her score every day to vault up the leaderboard, finishing in 30th place. After an 89 on Sunday, she closed the tournament with rounds of 78 and 75. Her 75 in the final round was the lowest score of any player on the team on Tuesday. She made one birdie in round two and followed with three in the final round.
- Emma Louise Hunt turned in a total score of 259 across three rounds to conclude the championship in 41st place. She was consistent all tournament, carding rounds of 86, 86, and 87.
- Addy Parker competed in the first two rounds of the tournament for Presbyterian. She shot 86 on the first day before firing an 87 on Monday.
- Gabi Carles played in the final round for the Blue Hose on Tuesday, turning in a 93. She carded seven pars in her round.
