FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team is back for postseason action this weekend, playing in the Big South Championship, held from Sunday-Wednesday at Ocean Creek GC.
This will be the third straight year that the Big South Championship has taken place in Fripp Island. Maddie Peake, Sloane Spessard, Taylor Reaves, Addy Parker, and Emma Louise Hunt will compete for the Blue Hose.
This will be Taylor Reaves' fourth time competing in the Big South Championship. Maddie Peake will be teeing it up for the third time. This will be Spessard and Hunt's second championship appearance. Finally, Parker will be making her debut in the Big South finale.
BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Format: Three rounds of stroke play from Sunday to Tuesday. Match Play will take place on Wednesday.
Field (9): High Point, UNC Asheville, Longwood, Charleston Southern, Radford, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, USC Upstate
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
Beginning on Sunday afternoon, three rounds of stroke play will be played with a shotgun start. Teams will play one round each day. After the stroke play event concludes on Tuesday, the top four seeds from stroke play will advance to the championships' match play. The match play semifinals will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The final will begin at 1:30 p.m. to determine the champion.
BLUE HOSE CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Blue Hose have competed in the Big South Championship a total of 16 times, dating back to 2009. Presbyterian's best finish to date is taking fourth in 2017. PC also ended the event in a tie for fourth two years later in 2019. The Blue Hose have finished in seventh place each of the last three years.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Blue Hose concluded their regular season at the Carolina Challenge Cup on April 4, finishing in 11th place.
- Maddie Peake led the way for Presbyterian, turning in rounds of 71 and 82 to finish in a tie for 34th in Chapel Hill. Her opening round 71 is her lowest round of the spring and the second-lowest round of her career.
- Taylor Reaves also delivered a strong showing, firing rounds of 76 and 79 to finish two shots behind Peake with a total score of 155. She made two birdies on the day to finish T45. Her 76 is her second-lowest round this spring.
- Sloane Spessard made two birdies in her final round to conclude the tournament in a tie for 51st.
- Addy Parker and Gabi Carles rounded out the Blue Hose lineup at UNC. Parker shot a final round 80 and made a team-high four birdies, finishing T64. Meanwhile, Gabi Carles finished in 67th, carding 12 pars.
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Sloane Spessard leads Presbyterian on the season with a 77.7 scoring average. Maddie Peake is narrowly behind with a scoring average of 77.9. Peake has the highest finish of any Blue Hose player this year, finishing third at Fripp Island in the fall. Spessard finished in a tie for eighth at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational in September. Finally, Taylor Reaves has a 78.7 scoring average with two top-15 finishes. As a team, Presbyterian's best finish is placing runner-up in Fripp Island in November.
BLUE HOSE ROSTER
This is the first full season as the head coach of the women's golf program for Columb Knight. Knight, a 2024 graduate of PC, achieved numerous milestones as a player, including ranking seventh in PC's Division I era with a career stroke average of 74.93. His 2025-26 squad includes four returners, including Maddie Peake, Sloane Spessard, Taylor Reaves, and Emma Louise Hunt. Gabi Carles and Addy Parker highlight the freshman class for Coach Knight.
