FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team closed out its fall season with a second place finish at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate, hosted by USC Upstate at Ocean Greek GC. For the tournament, PC finished with a 930 score (+66), eight shots clear of third place North Carolina A&T. Charleston Southern took home the title, concluding the tournament with a score of 894.
Presbyterian's second place finish is the highest the team has had since the Blue Hose came in second at Bright's Creek Intercollegiate on Feb. 24-25, 2024. Maddie Peake was PC's highest finisher at Fripp Island, coming in third place. The third place finish is the best of her career for the Blue Hose.
NOTABLES
- Peake shot rounds of 74, 77, and 78 over the course of three days to take home third place. For the tournament, she made nine birdies total, finishing with a total score of 229. On the final day, she made three birdies in a five-hole stretch from holes four to eight.
- Sloane Spessard also ended up in the top 10 for the Blue Hose, finishing in a tie for ninth place. She carded rounds of 77, 79, and 78 to finish with a 234 total. Her tie for ninth finish is her first career top 10 for Presbyterian. She stayed consistent over all three days in the tournament, making two birdies each round.
- Taylor Reaves saved her best golf for last at Fripp Island, carding her best round of the tournament on the final day with a 77. She finished in a tie for 12th with a total score of 235 for the Blue Hose. In the third round, she made a total of 13 pars.
- Addy Parker played the best golf of her collegiate career, finishing in a tie for 16th place. She finished with a total score of 237. In the second round, she shot the lowest round of her career to date, carding a 74. For the tournament, she made a total of six birdies.
- Emma Louise Hunt finished with a 243 total score to finish in 22nd place for the Blue Hose. For the tournament, she made a total of three birdies. On the back nine of her first round, she shot an even par 37. Individually, Gabi Carles rounded out the Blue Hose with a score of 264.
