Presbyterian Battled Cal On the Road

BERKELEY, Calif. – In a tightly contested game, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (3-4) battled the California Golden Bears (4-1) to the end before falling 67-57 on the road on Tuesday evening.
 
Carl Parrish led the Blue Hose with 16 points. Jonah Pierce and Triston Wilson each chipped in with 13 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Presbyterian's TWilson scored the game's first two points on a layup a minute into the contest. The Blue Hose scored seven of the first nine points, taking a 7-2 lead after a three from the wing by Wilson. Cal would tie the score at seven; a basket inside from Pierce put the Blue Hose back in front. With the game tied at 12, Cal scored five straight points, taking a 17-12 lead with nine minutes left in the half. With Cal leading 27-20 with 4:49 on the clock, Presbyterian scored nine of the half's final 13 points, cutting Cal's lead to 31-29 at the half. Pierce scored four points, Parrish connected on a three from the wing, and Josh Pickett scored inside for Presbyterian's points during the end of the half scoring run.
 
SECOND HALF – Pickett converted on a jumper in the lane, tying the score at 31 early in the half. Cal scored to regain the lead, then Parrish connected on a three-point field goal, putting the Blue Hose in front by one. With the score tied at 36, Cal connected on a three-point field goal, regaining the lead. Cal maintained the lead until with 12:17 on the clock, Parrish knocked down a three, putting the Blue Hose in front, 44-43. Cal took back the lead, increasing their advantage to 53-46 with eight minutes on the clock.  After a three from Parrish and a bucket inside from Pierce, PC had closed Cal's lead to 53-51 with six minutes on the clock. However, the Blue Hose were never able to regain the lead as Call closed the game on a 14-6 run.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • With 16 points, Parrish collected his sixth double-figure scoring game of the season and the 22nd of his career.
  • Pierce's 13 points marked his sixth double-digit scoring game of the season and the 20th of his career.
  • Wilson's 13 points marked his third double-figure scoring of the season.
